Death Valley's one the most interesting and amazing geological wonder is the the mysterious sliding boulders in the protected desert region of Death Valley National Park, California. Playa on the western side of Death Valley National Park. The desert area is extended in an area of n area of 2,067,628 acres. The area receives less than 5 cm of rain each year. Some of the highest and the lowest temperature is measured in the area from 57 Celsius-74 Celsius. Mysterious sliding bounders are found in Racetrack Playa. The playa is an under drained desert bottom area sometimes covered with water.
One of the early thinking about the rocks was sliding down a gradual slope over a long period of time it was driven by gravity. Later on the rocks starting moving up hills which proves the gravity was not the reason for the movement.
Although many scientists had dedicated their time searching the movements to the racing rocks, but no one was able to know the matter because of the remoteness of the area which kept the research limited in scope. Dr. Messina is using the high technology portable method known as global positioning.
In 1996 Dr. Messina digitally mapped the location with the help of high technology global positioning system which showed the scattered of 162 rocks over the playa about 60 miles far. As per her finding the wind and water were the two components essential for their movement. Wet, frictionless sediments and the intense wind blowing may be the reasons behind the rocks movement. She added that the bacteria is also another element behind it.
